About us and yurt holidays

Hi, we are David and Zoë Ager and our children Ellie, Pippa and Victor. In 2006 we moved from the Midlands to South Devon looking for a change of lifestyle. We wanted to slow the clock down and move away from the City to pursue our dream of creating an ecologically friendly, low impact, sustainable, self catering yurt holidays site with the emphasis on providing luxurious woodland accommodation.

Three years down the line and here we are offering what we believe to be a unique yurt holiday experience, based on Contemporary Yurts. Your knowledge of yurts might extend to images of canvas structures used for centuries by natives of Central Asia. The only yurts that we could source were that type, offering compromised practicalities and ancient aesthetics. Traditional yurts seemed dark and often damp, and were short in height and usually had a whiff of joss sticks! We wanted light, dry, fresh, spacious modern yurts. As these did not seem to be available we decided to manufacture them. The Buy a Yurt Company in Devon was born.

We are therefore able to vouch for all of the yurts at Yurtcamp, as we made them! They represent a modern adaptation of the traditional type, retaining the round fluid lines and strength of the ancient form but with an aesthetically pleasing and uplifting, spacious design.
